Which state are you referencing? You'll be refunded most of that (minus license and app fee) if not drawn.

NM sheep is ~ $3k to apply, then they refund when not drawn.

Montana - Thanks, there was nothing I saw that stated that (probably just overlooked that), I will have to try next March. Thanks for the info.

I was going to try for out of state Elk tag but it looked like it would cost around $1200 and who knows how long it would take to be drawn for it.

Better odds if you book with an outfitter(not my fault)

How do hunting celebrities get their public land tags? Are they allowed to buy tags from people who drew them?

Was wondering if the states have a provision for these folks, who, in a way, are promoting the states.

Just seems some of them get a public land tag in some states every year.

I keep putting in every year but so far the only tag I've ever drawn is a B whitetail tag. There were only 10 B tags offered in the unit I applied for. Sounds lucky, except that it was for the unit I used to live in before moving last year. Not willing to drive 175 miles to shoot a doe when I've been shooting bucks out of the house windows for several years.

Yeah-Ranching for Wildlife no thanks. That's been a long concern of mine, starting back when the "shoulder season" was initiated. Back then when the Shoulder season was proposed and I had a chance to comment I told them no thanks and was very concerned where it'd lead...

Every since the republican was elected Governor the FWP has bent over backwards for the Outfitters.
The FWP gives a bigger portion of the Big Game Combo to application that have booked with an outfitter!
I have a friend that moved back home years ago,he has been denied a Big Game Combo the last 3 years in a row!
