Monster bear

Very nice bear !

I guided in the eastern UP of Michigan for 14 years. Usally we got one around 300 pounds every year. Myself I've shot several over 300 lbs. my largest in Michigan 609 lbs field dressed. When I walked up to that bear I had to sit down and get a hold of myself. I had to quarter and skin on the spot because I was hunting by myself.

There have been a couple taken here in PA that were over 800 lb and several over 600. I've taken 4 here and the heaviest was 259 dressed which was a really nice bear IMO. I saw one "on the hoof" that I'm sure was easily 600 lbs but of course that was during deer season..! I often jokingly tell my hunting companions that I'm not going to shoot another bear unless it blocks out the sun...LOL (or unless I'm using one of my traditional muzzleloaders)

609 lbs? That's a monster congratulations. I've packed out a lot by myself, so I can relate!

609 is a toad! I've packed out a bruin or 3 as well. To date, the largest (rocky mountain bruin) I've taken went 416 lbs, 20" and 7'1". He was plenty to pack out of the canyon I was in. Called him in to 7 yds, couldn't get a shot, called him again a short bit later to 90 yds and that was it for him...
