montana black bear?

anybody got any tips on montana black bear? I have a buddy who has invited me up in may to shoot me a bear.

What aproxx. location, MT is big, terrain type?

Hunt right around the snow line. Hunt areas freshly melted off with new green vegitation, especially on sunny slopes. In warm weather they will not be as active during hte day.

Gated roads are the first to green up.

That location is likely to have slide chute type hunting, find south face with green, look for scat . If you find good sign the bears will be there. Some of my spring bear spots are terrible for mosquitos, must be all the spring moisture, clouds of them. These chutes are perfect for LRH. Bone up on bear picts, you'll be in grizz area most likely, I have had a couple years lately where we see more G bears than blacks.
