Mil-surplus powder for 300 rum?

I use wc872 for my 300 wm and love using it. I'm loading 84grs to push 190 smks and 83 for 215 hybrids. I shoot a remmy 700 with 27 1/4" shilen. I get same hole groups at 100 and opens up to 5" at 700 yrs.

Yep, the 300 rum will do well with wc872. 104 gr on a 190 or 112 gr with a 180 will shoot sub moa in my rifle. I prefer rl25 or rl33 but this stuff is cheap, goes bang, and does a fair job at pushing a pill downrange.
I've burned wc872 in my 7rem with 175's and it wasn't as impressive. Come to think of it, the 7 rem isn't that impressive. I should have it reamed out to 7stw but I have too much brass for it yet. I'll barrel it and toss the brass when she dies.

The surplus powders are great in the 300 RUM. They seem to prefer the heavier bullets. Just make sure to keep them in an inside pocket when the temp drops a bunch as the velocities will drop quickly. LTLR does a bunch of work with these powders in his 300's.

You guys have got me excited for my shipment to show up. I was shooting 200 Berger's,I just ran out, and I have a box of 230 hybrids, but maybe some heavy Sierras might fit my budget better. What bullets are you guys using?

220 smks with retumbo but have moved to 240 grainers using h50bmg. My first ever attempt at 1000 yards I used the 220s and they produced a 6.4" group. Sierras shoot really well. Any match king should work well for you. You need to push the 240s at 2900 minimum in a 10 twist to properly stabilize.

I have a 28" and it is mild also but with an ES and sd in the low singles I left it be. Also the brass lasts forever, primer pockets stay nice and tight, and it shoots bug holes.

I finally got some magnum primers (Remington 9 1/2m) and did some shooting. I went from 97 gr. to 102 gr. of wc872. Velocities from my 32" barrel ranged from 2949 to 3140 with the 230 Berger hybrid.
