I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Unfortunately this was not a '21 bear but rather a '20 bear I took in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but I still believe it will get some enjoyment. The rifle pictured with me is a 1931 Finnish M37 chambered in 7.62x54r. This rifle was made in the Tikkakoski factory in Finland…better known in the states at "Tikka". Using 200gr Russian Silver Bear soft points. Chased the bear for 9 miles and according to the dogs GPS collar, he averaged 6mph. It ended with him about 10ft from me looking me in the eyes on the ground in his den and it was so thick neither one of us had anywhere to move. A shot to the base of the neck anchored him there but made for a difficult drag back to the trail!

When I saw the chased for nine miles, I thought you must of been a marathon runner, HAHA, then I saw the dogs part. Bet your heart was pumping till you got to him. Mine was this past fall when I did my Idaho bear hunt, was with dogs, and it was a RUSH. Congratts on the nice bear.

I was a Bear Guide in Michigan for over 45 years....did combo bait-dogs hunts until 2006 after that until last year bait only....

I do not have sufficient privileges to send a private message at the moment it seems due to the nature of me being so new here. Would love to discuss the possibility of using you as a guide or seeing who you know that would be willing. I'm due for another tag next fall and I live too far from the UP to be driving back and forth every couple days to work a bait site!

Sorry I no longer guide bear hunters....last January I had a stroke I was very lucky there was no physical damage just minor mental (sort of don't remember to good that's what I let the Wife believe) over the past year Doctors said the brain will compensate for the damaged part....Hell ....5 days after the stroke I could not even log on the computer couldn't remember a pass word....now I remember all my pass words I'am typing great like i did before....
My wife will not allow me to go in the woods alone any more....extreme life changing....
Got talked into selling the house and land in the UP last October....its been very hard not having the place....
I know the new owner of the land doesn't bear hunt I will talk to him...it locks up over 15 sq. miles of great bear territory.... 2020 I shot a 460 lb. dressed boar on the 2nd day of the second season.....I only had one hunter not shoot a bear in the 15 years owning the land....they only hunted 3 days and had a very bad attitude and the weather was very bad then on day 4 had a different hunter weather changed in the same blind shoot a bear....
