Greetings. What meat packing frames are you using to pack out elk quarters?

I've used kuiu and exo. Not sure what type of pack you are looking for. These are the type that you put your quarters between the pack frame and bag and sorta like sandwich it in. Both worked well and we're fairly comfortable. Will say that the exo is much faster to secure quarters in. I personally like these types of packs as I use them for my day pack and then if I'm successful I have a comfortable pack that I can immediately start packing with. Good luck on your search.

I run an Exo K3 4800 most of the time because I love the bag, and it's plush with normal loads (40-50lbs). For heavy loads, XCurve feels a little stiffer and snugs down tighter for me.

In the past, I've used the Eberlestock F1. This year, I purchased an Eberlestock Emod with one of their Brooks 3500 bags. I think this is going to work better. They're on sale right now (4/4/26) for 20% off.

I have a Mystery Ranch where I can sandwich a quarter between the pack and the bag!
BUT when I go back I take a Camptrails Freigther /meat shelve!
I agree with RH300UM Barney's Freighter is the best out there for a pour meat hauler!
I also have the wifes old REI(Camptrails)with a full dept sack that I line with a plastic garbage bag for boning out the front quarters!(she no camp now)
I can do a whole big bull elk in 3 loads with that system

Yep! I have a couple (I cannot remember the brand) that were given to me over 30 years ago that have served me well to date. However, over the last decade, a friend has been a lifesaver with his equine-retrieval support.

Every body is a little different...

I run the same K3 and bag. Just need to make sure everything is adjusted to your body by size. I swap to a 1600 bag for local day hunts and NRL Hunter matches.

Bull Pack for a meat frame, last 15 years or so. For about 40 years I used a repurposed aluminum frame from a North face (I think) pack frame. Best thing I've done is get a Mystery ranch sawtooth for my hunting pack about 6 years ago. I'm tempted to carry too much crap on a day to day basis but it expands readily to carry a quarter of an elk or half a deer out on the first trip. My old day packs had no frame basically only carry an extra layer and a sandwich.
A good pack/frame makes a huge difference. I killed my first elk in 1967, havent killed a light one since then.
