Welcome from Illinois!!
Absolutely love Namibia. My wife and I have hunted there on 2 occasions as well as S. African and Zimbabwe. Namibia is her favorite and we want to go back at least once more. We have always hunted the same farm and became friends with the family that owns it. Everything there fell to my old Winchester '06. The folks there were always friendly and made our stays there very memorable.A very good day to all,
While I am rather fond of guns I have an extra portion of liking in bolt action rifles, and the more accurate the better.
My favorite hunting destination is Namibia especially the more open savanna areas... but I am bias as I grew up on a 20 000 acre farm there.
My first hunt experience was at the age of 10 on some warthogs, followed by oryx, kudu etc. Hunting for me was and is more about the meat than the trophy (bring on that biltong baby), because I like eating more than looking. That said I enjoy the company of all respectable hunters. (Respectable because there are those that **** on the farmers/hunting safari lodge couch, those types I avoid)
In USA terms my gun safe is but a slow start with the following:
Sako 308 A7 Range, because everyone should have the legend. (just do not take it hunting in savannas)
2x Tikka 6.5 creedmoor (with mods)
1x Tikka 300 WSN Lonewillow tuned
2x SAVAGE 243WIN VLP
1x Custom rem700 6xc Lonewillow by Danie Joubert
1x Custom rem700 6BRA Lonewillow again
1x Rem700 375 H&H classic from the 70s
1x 223 Ruger - Schoolfees A G2
Some carry Glocks and a BushMaster AR....
Future plans is for 25 creed, 7 SAUM or 7-65PRC AW ... al done by local Legend Danie Joubert.
Optics o. Optics.. First favorite is Leupold, then a far second NF (that I have couple) US Optics, Element, Arken.
I also enjoy reloading my own ammo... or no I dont... I just like the way they shoot more accurate. My OCD cant handle factory ammo 9 times out of 10.
Hope this introduction is ok... and sorry, English is not my first language.
I'm right there with you on the springbok and oryx. I would also add eland to my list. When I shoot eland or orxy I always ask for some fresh tenderlion from it for dinner. It never disappoints me. HahaSpringbuck 1st, then Oryx. 2nd.. that said I have not had fellow deer yet, and some people say that is close to mutton.
Welcome from Texas! I can only read magazines and dream of hunting in Africa. This is a great group of folks with tremendous knowledge.A very good day to all,

The American hunters impressed me more so I like those US calibres more.A man from Namibia without a 9.3x62?
To me, that's a very German/Namibian round. Maybe I'm wrong?
