I decided to change barrels on an old savage 110e action. I picked up an unfired marlin xl7 barrel in 270 win years ago because it was really cheap and I heard you could swap them with a savage. The threaded shank is the correct length and the same thread pattern. There is an issue in that there is a slight lip after the threads which prevents the barrel nut from screwing all the way to the end which prevents me from head spacing. Is there a simple away around this? Looks like I may need to remove the lip with a lath which I would like to avoid. The other possible option is to modify the barrel nut.
