Looking for place to hunt Prairie dog

I'm from Ms. and I'm working in Cheyenne Wyoming for a few months. I would like to find somewhere close by to hunt prairie dogs. Does anyone know of public land or maybe some farmers that wouldn't mind someone taking a few off there land.

U.S. 487 N. of Medicine Bow has a lot of public land.

Just drive to some of the public lands around you. Glass for the mounds... they are easy to spot. They are everywhere! We found sizeable colonies today while scouting mule deer spots.

Just start knocking on doors usually there's some ranchers that want some P-dogs eliminated.

If you see someone out just stop and ask if they know anyone that would let you hunt prairie dogs. I did that and got a lot of names to contact to hunt.

Good advice. Between Medicine bow and Laramie peak rest stop there is quite a few prairie dog towns. I have popped a few traveling from Casper to Laramie with my conceal carry pistol.

Tha's where the G&F released the black footed ferrets years ago. For the next 5 years or so there was a truck on every hill watching them. Lots of dogs though.

For many years, we traveled north to Douglas then to Bill and turned east to the Thunder Basin Nat'l Grasslands. During those days, there were lots of P-dog towns with few shooters, I haven't been there in a few years, so I am not sure of the dog populations now. Many times, we just find a rancher's home and ask, and they are most glad to have use shoot the dogs on their lands.

Check w/ county conservation officer/game warden. Find cafe farmers/ranchers go to every morning and let these folks know you
want to shoot prairie dogs and you will probably get an invite.
