Looking for my throat! T/C 30 Herrett

Well, I'm loading up some 30 Herrett, focused on distance off the lands. Well….in my 30 Herrett, there is no way to seat within a mile of the lands with 125gr SST's.

Is this normal in a T/C barrel or am I doing something wrong?

For some some factory barrels they did have long throats. I had a 30 Herrett barrel that was too long to reach the lands and I had it rechambered to 30-30 AI.

My 7-30 Waters barrel was not long throated.

I had a 30 Herrett, was the same. T/C used to chamber barrels on a glorified drill press. Contact Mike Bellm. He can probably come up with a solution for you.

Even with a long throat they can still shoot good. I had a 300 Blackout rifle with a mile long throat. Still shot 1/2 MOA.

You can have that barrel rechambered to 30-30 Ackley Improved or 309 JDJ and that would take care of a long throat.
