Looking for a complete 788 bolt, for a .308 win. Let me know what you have. Thanks Don

I have a M788 in 7-08 and have heard parts are very hard to find, but wouldn't a bolt for a .243 or 7-08 work also? BM

I just sold my 788 in 7-08 carbine

The bolts should be inerchangeable as they are all based on the 308 case. DAN>>>

I think the 7-08 bolt would work, but finding one is the hard part. I guess they made four different length 788 actions. Also, from what I've read, during manufacture, the barrels were screwed down on a go-nogo guage, then the barrels were stamped and sights added. Much like the Savages. It was cheaper than fitting bolts one at a time. So if I replace the bolt, it will have to be professionally head spaced. The whole project may not be worth it. We'll ride it out for a while, and see what happens. Thanks for the replies. Don
