Long range hunting AR's

wouldn't call it long range b/c my longest kill was ~ 335 yards on a hog. cheap lower put togehter with bargain bin parts and i used a 20" Ballistic Advantage pipe. Wasn't even hand loading at that time, but it would shoot factory PMC FMJ about 3/4" if memory serves....used a lot of Wolf SP to hunt with that was maybe 1.25". Great rig just too dang heavy to carry around thermal hunting all night so went with a 7.62x39 after that.

Again- not sure id call it long range due to its muzzle velocity limitations it maxes out around 600yards. But I built an ultralight 308w- 16.5" barrel-- 6.8 pounds with scope. I also have a heavy weight 20" 6.8spc that will get close to the 308.

Iirc noreen sells semi auto 30-06, 338 lapua, and 408 cheytac

I don't know if id call my AR in 5.56 a long range gun due to energy but I like my AR for general purpose hunting. It's not too heavy, it's compact with a 16" barrel plus 6" of suppressor on the front. Launches 63gr absolute hammers at about 3030fps. I used a Ruger lower and aero upper with a black rain ordinance BCG a Wilson combat ranger contour barrel and a geissele match trigger. Longest shot has been about 160 yards on a feral goat. I'll probably get some chances on hogs beyond 300 yards this year that I might try.

My two main current builds are an M4 1-9" twist and HBAR 1-9" twist. I'll be swapping out the HBAR barrel for a 20" 1-7" Colt barrel soon. I've been using 53 r vmax's out to 480 yards. I'll be moving up to 73 gr ELDM's and possibly 75 ELDM's if I decide to modify mags, magwell and feed ramp.

I'll find out when I finish with my AR7saum (probably October) and haven't had time to shoot the AR6.5prc. Some bullets will be supersonic out to 1,900 yards. What would be the shortest range for calling it long range?

I have a couple of AR 223/5.56 Varmint/NM in 24" and 20" in 1/8 twist I use with the 75-80's out to the 1,000yd line, and it has shot varmints in the 8-900yd range. The heavy 24" groups exceptionally well and is deadly on P-dogs.

Built me a ar15 on a spikes upper / lower and it runs a 20 inch kreiger barrel and a geislle two stage 3.5 lb trigger . It's currently set for hogs with a sightmark on top. My ar10 is a sun devil lower Gibbs side charge upper and runs alot of jp stuff ,barrel ,handguard ,bolt, and silent capture buffer . It's a tank at 22inchs on the barrel and wears a nightforce scope in a spuhr mount.

What is your bullet/powder combination for your 24"? Not your actual load, I will develop that, just curious as which powder and bullet worked best for yours
