Long Range Hunting Rifle + Calibre?

T/C Venture and Weatherby Vangaurd are both cheap and offer good accuracy guarantee.

Plus gotta love the savage cause of the do it yourself barrel change and its cheap.

And look into focal planes (front vs rear affecting hold over reticles) on scopes. A huge percentage of scope owners don't know what this is and is very frustrating to discover this in the field if the scope is in second plane(same as rear) while using reticle hold-over.

Good luck.

Why not the .264 Win Mag? I know there is not a wealth of factory ammo for this overlooked caliber, but I've read that handloaders do well with it in a 26 inch barrel.

I just picked up a Ruger M77 in this caliber. Unfortunately, it is a 24 inch barrel, but I will see what the lost velocities will do on my 300 yard range and go from there.
