Loading the 300 WBY Magnum, what would you do?

I just worked up a load for mine last week. 200 grain ELDX, 80.5 grains of 7828, federal 215 primer COAL is 3.600". Average velocity is 3042 FPS from a 26 inch barrel. My 3 shot groups at 100 yards are between .5 -.6 moa

Use a Federal 215 magnum primer. This primer was developed for the Weatherby 300. I Tried the CCI magnum primers with H4831 with no luck. I tried this about 25 years ago.

Friend of mine inherited his uncle's cherry condition (maybe shot 12-15rnds) Weatherby MK V with original German scope, 300 WBY and wants me to load for it. SO, I could be all boring and research my manuals and such, but I'd rather see what you all recommend.

Brass: Weatherby 300WBY (new)
Bullet: 200gr ELD-X
Powders: H1000, AA4350, N570, RL-25
Primers: Fed 215 and WLRM

Factory 200gr ELD-X cartridge showed 75.2gr of an extruded powder. Who knows what, but the grain weight used gives an idea of burn rate.

So, lay it on me.
Per your parameters, I would use the Fed 215's w/ between 81 and 82 grains of RL-25 for the 200 grain ELD-X's.
If you can get your hands on some RL-26 that would work too...... You should be right around that 3000 FPS mark.

I mostly use 200 gr Partitions in mine. In front of 7828, RL22, or MRP. Accurate and pwerful enough for anything in North America. - dan

You are thinking right. After trying everything, I found the 300 Bee was at its best with 200gr bullets. which one totally depends on circumstances, but you have the weight right. It is a hammer with them.

If you can get them, the Berger 190 VLD has shot very very good for me in several 300 WSM and 300 Win mags. And, it should stabilize great in a 1:10 or 1:12 barrel as the Weatherby will be putting out around 3000-3100fps easy with a full case of N570.
