I skip step 3 (seems to dull the knife) Step 4 is the most important
I got all my wives (yes all of them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) knives cutting the hairs on my arm (std Lincoln Montana sharpness test) - or cutting paper - in about 2 minutes each - while watching football!

- stones for the following reason:
- work hardens the metal/doesn't grind it down
- edgeMaker system requires no skill (unlike a stone)
- cheaper than stones
also works on hunting knives. Any other favorite sharpening methods? My Gerber sharpener works similarly
