Recently I got a Kimber Varmint in 204. Put a 6.5-20x40 fine duplex VX3i on it and a Harris S25. Got it lined up, and so far, it's been laying them down.

First day out I didn't see anything but a pair of skunks.

2nd time out I doubled up and enjoyed the view just before sunset.

Next time around I shot one that fell back into the hole and I didn't try to get it out.

Went out today and went 2 for 3. The first one I missed as it was peaking out of its hole on the side of a hill and I hit just low and dusted it.

#2 was a head shot

Ummmm! Good stew tonight!
Really nice RIG! I have used a .204 since it came out for chucks.

I don't eat them. I do use them to bait coyotes though. My first 204 was an AR platform. I much prefer it in the bolt action though due to weight and ease of carrying in the field.

Have you ever tried eating them ? The young ones are very tasty - one of my favorite wildlife dishes. The big ones are like rubber, though. Even the tender little ones are hard to skin, and they have glands under their arms that you have to cut out before you cook them. We used to eat the first couple of small ones we got early in the year, and made it a point to head-shoot them. Most of the ones we ate were shot in Granny's garden, where they didn't live long enough to get big & tough. Usually two or three of those and we were done eating them for the season. Once they get bigger and start digging, the get tough really quick, and then we just shot them to keep them from demolishing her vegetable plot. I'll bet that even the coyotes have a hard time chewing them.

Beatiful
