'Indexing' your adjustable cheekpiece...how do you do it?

Wondering if and how folks are making sure their adjustable cheekpieces are to the exact same height every time...?

I tried a few things (cartridge case, etc.) and finally found that a AA battery (always have with me)was the perfect height to put under mine to adjust it exactly to the same height everytime.
