idaho unit 18 help

My girlfriend drew a elk tag for Unit 18 in idaho, anybody hunt this area and if so what drainages or areas can you suggest?????

Granite Creek and the west slope below Horse Heaven. It's very rough there and you will need horses. You can access it via Six Lake Basin trail the Rapid River trail or up the Oxbow trail from the Snake River side.

I would look towards
Heavens gate, cold springs look out, Iron phone, low saddle or saw pit saddle
depending on how you are going to hunt, pack in my horse or day trips from camp and how rough of country you/she can take.
Unit 18 is steep country.
One thing to keep in mind a year or soi ago they started a new stick shooter hunt up there. Opened a few days ago. Last year they had the animals preaty scatered by gun season.
this year we are seeing alot more bear hunter with hounds then normal It was busy last week end.
I would suggest a scouting trip or two. Ill be up there hunting bears the next few weeks
