How to ship

I did some trading with a member lately and the shipping cost was enormous. How do yall ship your stuff, who do you use, and who is best as far as stuff getting there in good shape.
The box I shipped went through the US Postal Service and probably weighed 35 lbs but it cost 125 dollars and it came with a tracking number. I'm sure I screwed up so help not do this again. Thank you all in advance for your help and I pray that y'all have a blessed weekend

I've started using pirate ship.

I also found an FFL near me that does FFL transfer including shipping cost to other FFL's for $125 all included for the guys who need FFL to FFL transfers, or when I'm too lazy to deal with it myself.

Pirate ship, and shipmygun are websites that use their bulk business discount to pass on some savings to you when creating USPS and UPS shipping labels. They're not a charity, they take some money, but it's still cheaper than going to a usps or ups store yourself most of the time.

Also save boxes when you receive stuff. Tear them down if you need space, but buying boxes for sub $50 items is what takes away a lot of the funds.

Shipping a box that's 35 pounds is gonna be expensive unless you use flat rate boxes. Flat rate you can ship up to 70 pounds without additional fee, shipping in an identical sized box that's not a "usps flat rate" Will be considerably more expensive. But flat rates tend to be more expensive for light things. Just need to game the system a little bit to get the best prices, especially for heavy stuff.

Just sent a action to be rebarrels from Midwest to West coast $31 dollars using Pirate Ship. If it was sent USPS would have been $125. Shipping has gone up and there prices are just plain crazy. Was a FFL going back to the 70's I've shipped alot of things big and small it was $30 to ship a gun with insurance coast to coast back until a few years ago.

We can thank brandon and the other libtards in DC for this. Shippers (other than the useless postal service) used to allow private individuals to ship any firearm and ammo for reasonable prices, then they changed it to, It must go overnight (ridiculous prices for 5-15lbs), then they switched to only FFL's can ship. I think, you can still ship a long gun thru USPS, but I never would since they broke the stock on a Model 70 Supergrade LE of mine once and with a Quote directly from Winchester for $1400+ for a replacement stock, they gave me $500 - raw blank of French or circassian walnut costs more than that.

Ah yeah barrels are tough, long and heavy. I usually used the little triangle long boxes for them that ups has, been a while since I've sold a barrel though so I don't remember what I paid last time

There is a pawn shop here in town that will box it up and take care of shipping. They pass shipping on at cost and charge me a fee, I want to say $25-$40. They will box up the rifle case and do the paperwork, etc with the carrier. I don't send long guns often, only when I sell a rifle, but they make it very easy and hassle free.

Prices on everything went up. Two years ago, I paid $200 to ship a crossbow via USPS, not only because of its weight but also because of the size of the box, given cargo space and weight restrictions on air/land transport.

I shipped a longgun out last week via PirateShip. It only cost $41, but that is with no additional insurance. I've paid as much as $130 in the past.

Open an account and follow the instructions, it's easy. The only downside that I've noticed is that if you submit a question, the human response could take a day or two. They certainly don't respond in "a few minutes" like they indicate. They will provide all of the necessary info to ship firearms, when requested.

Pirate Ship is on your computer, not a physical location. You go into it just like coming in here. You'll need to get an electronic scale, got my scale at WalMart for under $20. Create an account with PS, then enter the required info, pick how you want it shipped, print the postage, and drop the package off. It is a savings and I've yet to have any issues using it. You're still using the same shippers, just at a discount.
