How did everyone do? Got pictures?

We hunted two afternoons in the blind and tagged both deer. I shot a big fat doe yesterday at 189 yards with my .350 Rem Mag XP-100 and Grace shot her nice buck at 75 yards, perfectly broadside with her .357 Max TC Encore pistol. Iowa Late Muzzleloader season. They let us use muzzleloaders or pistols. We were just west of Muscatine, Iowa, about ten minutes from the house.

With the Xmas lights in the background, are you sure you didn't get dasher or dancer? :)
I was the only adult on the hunt so we had to wait until we got home for me to be in the photo. One of our four year old twins came along for his first deer hunt and was thrilled to "catch a deer", which he has now claimed as his deer. He even found it for me! The bullet landed a few inches higher than intended and the only blood trail was chunks of jellied lung for about five yards where she lunged for the timber. So we walked in on the trail that was directly in line with the chunks. Nothing. No blood, no tracks, no deer. So we cut downhill and found another major trail about 15 yards downhill and I looked uphill toward the field and the eyes glowed in the headlamp. "Daddy! There's a deer! And it's looking at me!" He was VERY proud of himself. When we lost sight of her after the shot was the last leap she took.

Was fortunate to be paying attention when the only buck I saw came by. Hopefully an additional doe or two over the holiday doe season if I can get up early lol.
