Hornady seating die too short?

i bought a Hornady 2 die set for my 300rum and the seating die if setup per instructions is almost to short with 230gr bergers... I barely have the o-ring in the die body. I see they offer a seater plug for the 208 amax, will this solve this problem? Also does anyone have any experience with the microjust seating stem?? Just wondering if I can upgrade this die and not have to buy a redding.

I don't have that die but it sounds like you have it screwed down WAY too much.

Directions say place an empty case in press and raise. Screw die on until it contacts case mouth then back out one turn if no crimp is desired. Bergers are really long and I'm seating to 3.895" coal

A not unusual problem with Hornadys one size fits all seating die, had this problem with a couple sets.
