Tomorrow morning my dad and I leave for our annual trip to Newcastle Wyoming for mulies, antelope, praire dogs, jack rabbits, coyotes.......hopefully no rattlers. We are in zone 6 and 7 for lopes, region B for deer. Anyone else going to be in that area?

Sounds like the animals are looking good with all the rain they had this year. Can't wait to get out in the sage again! You guys posting antelope stories and pictures have been killin' me!;)

Good luck!!! I am leaving at the end of the week with a few friends. We are going to hunt Coyotes just outside of Gillette and then head up to the Big Horns for our annual Mule Deer hunting. I too cannot wait to get back out to Wyoming. It is a wonderful place to be.

Where do you guys go in the big horns? I hunt about 18 miles from Bear Lodge in an area called Daytons Gultch. I just love to hunt out there. According to the weather report they are supposed to get snow starting on Wed and ending saturday morning. They say there is a 60 percent chance or more. Snow always makes things interesting. I hope so. Last year we got a lot of snow. The deer and elk really started to move around. Snow sure makes it easy to find them. Hopefully that equals success. Again, Good luck.

Results

Well, we are finally back after a good trip. The weather was a bit of a challenge with rain\snow\mud. We would have missed a couple days of hunting if I had not had my tire chains along.

My Dad made his best shot to date with a 495 yard shot on a nice antelope. You can see a tiny flat spot on the butte behind him, that was the firing point. He made the shot with his Savage 6.5\284 F class.

I shot one of my best antelope the same day, a 14 1/2" buck at 380 yards with my new APS 300WM. Man that thing shoots! After dialing the drop the hit was within 1/2" of POA. The buck drop straight down with his legs folded directly beneath him.

The highlight of the trip was the mulie my friend Shane Bruce took. Shane's family owns the ranch we hunt. The monster was 28 1/2" wide with 14 scoreable points. The biologist aged the deer at "more than 14 years old."

It was a great trip as usual, can't wait for next year!
