I use Quickload. Seems like I have to tune the burn rate to get reliable results. It's ok.

How is GRT to setup and use? Easier, harder? Which works better across the board of bottleneck rifle cartridges? Which is easier to add a wildcat cartridge to? Setup ladder tests, get predictions for changing conditions?

Since you're familiar with QL, no real learning curve using GRT. GRT has a few more options.

Which works better across the board of bottleneck rifle cartridges?
I favor GRT for powder tunes.
I favor QL for powder query.

Which is easier to add a wildcat cartridge to?
QL has more powder selection for wildcats. QL also has larger cartridge selection. Since GRT was free I use both to get a baseline. Majority of my cartridges are wildcats. Having more data is better.

Setup ladder tests, get predictions for changing conditions?
50/50. GRT has finer tuned chamber, case, and as stated earlier tuned powders.
But some cartridges are better in QL and other better in GRT.

I recently tried GRT after having used QL. I entered as much measured parameters as I could. Barrel length
Bullet length
Bullet weight
Bullet diameter
H2O capacity of fired case
Powder charge
Ambient temperature

The resulting velocity was about 200 fps different than measured. I tried making some adjustments but the velocity was so far off.

GRT has a lot more visible information. It has something labeled bullet jump, but the description is not really bullet jump.

I'm surprised neither has bullet jump as I think that is a decent factor in max pressure. Basically, a pretty low pressure expands the case and pushes the bullet to the lands. This new volume is what is the primary pressure building point.

Oh well. I'll play in GRT some as well as QL.

I'm playing with GRT with 9mm Luger. I find it does really well with that. Oddly, Ba and other powder attributes don't seem to move with temperature. Maybe that is due to the using pistol powder and 9mm. I find it reasonably accurate with 9mm. QL was not with pistols or really any straightwall.

This might be a dumb question. My apologies. Is the length of the bullet considered to be the overall length from the base to the tip? Pretty sure it is. Just want to make sure it isn't the length of the bearing surface.

That's very interesting. Yiu know you can calibrate to your measured velocities in GRT right?

I've been a QL and QD user for a long time.

GRT does not seem to work how my brain works so I don't "get it". It has all the features needed.

I'll try to look at GRT differently.
I have both. QL has a much larger database, but there is a lot of real world help on GRT Discord. The developer of GRT passed a way and a team is working on a new release.
I like how easy is to calibrate GRT to real measured data and get OBT and recommended load given your calibrated data

Is there some automated way to calibrate? Or do I play around with burn rate and starting pressure?
There is, you enter five shots at least with measure velocities, and enter the rest of the load and rifle data, and it will calibrate. I am not home now but I am sure there is a video on line how to do it. Maybe @Seabeeken can help

I need to try this. I've been modifying Ba, but need to try this.
