I just got my 338 NM together this weekend.
I've been shooting elk way out there lately and have had some really poor terminal performance with non bonded thin jacketed bullets.
I decided to step it up a little and start using heavy bondeds.
Here are the specs:
Mesa Precision Crux Ti action.
Mesa Altitude stock.
25" Sendero contour 1:9.5 twist Benchmark barrel chambered by Kampfeld Customs ( Karl's an awesome guy BTW and does incredible work).
Timney Calvin Elite trigger.
Terminator T3 brake
Currently has 5 round aics mag, soon to be swapped for a 3 round when it's released.
Weighs 7.4 lbs bare, 9.8 scoped (mk5 5-25) with mag.
So far I've only had time to load up a few rounds to sight in.
Im up to 90 grains of Retumbo with a 265 ABLR in Peterson brass, no where near pressure and velocity is 2775.
I should easily get to 2900 I'm thinking.
I can't believe how ridiculously mellow the recoil is with the T3.
It doesn't even move when my wife shoots it, I'll post a video at some point.
I'll also post updates on loads and accuracy.
