For Sale: A .257 STW built on a SS Remington 700. Pillar bedded, trued action, factory trigger currently at 4.25 lbs., Lilja SS barrel, free floated, 26", #4 contour, 1-10" twist, 6 grooves, field crown, Remington factory black synthetic stock. A total of forty rounds fired, all loading data and test results available. No brass or dies included. Initial loads used Winchester cases, Fed. 215 primers, Retumbo powder (charge weights 78 through 82 grns.) and Nosler 115gr. Partitions. Posting this for the owner who has to sell for medical reasons. $1000.

Any Pics? Who was the gunsmith? How well did it shoot for the first 40 rounds?
Thanks

The gunsmith is Stu's Gunsmithing in St. Cloud Minnesota. The pics show a scope, but the scope/bases/rings are NOT included. I do not have a digital camera, so I did the best I could with my phone.

All brass started as Winchester 7mm STW, trimmed to 2.830". I seated the bullets .030" off the rifling. In this rifle that results in an overall cartridge length of 3.600", with comparator 4.079". As stated in my first post Fed. 215 primers, Retumbo powder and Nosler 115gr. Partitions used throughout. Four shot strings fired at 100yds. over an Oehler 35. The first string of four (78grs) only has 3 shots on the chronograph because I wanted to verify zero before risking my skyscreens. All group sizes are center to center. I bore snaked the barrel for each 4 shot string. There was some cross wind buffeting at maybe 10-15 mph, so some shooter error is possible. I don't have a wind meter, but it was necessary to sandbag the legs of the chrono stands to make sure it didn't blow over. Extraction of all cases was easy, no primer leakage of any sort, no imprint of plunger ejector.

Thank you for your interest.
