I have a 8tw 24", .224 Tikka super varmint and was wondering if this twist is enough for an 88gr ? How heavy can I go with this twist rate? Any useful input appreciated.

Although Hornady recommends a faster twist for their 88gr ELD-M bullet, a number of 22Creed shooters report that they have seen good accuracy with them in their 8 twist barrels.

In a perfect world?! No idea.... but just like published velocities, info is close, but not spot on! Only way to really tell is to shoot them. My 22" 22CM 1:8 shoots the 80gr ELD-M better.

Only real way to tell is to not just shoot them, but also measure the BC. Marginally stable, doesn't mean tumbling, or even poor groupings, though that could be part of it. It means there's yaw in the bullet and it's causing excess drag.

If those 88s don't shoot, I've had good accuracy in a couple 8 twisted 22-250s with the 80.5 gr Berger and 77 gr TMK

I run 85.5 Bergers out of my 8 twist tikka 22-250 with no issues.
