Today while walking the bird dog, I photographed a bird!

We are so fortunate here, a pair of eagles nested in the city, above the Wenatchee River, and reared an eaglet. This year, they're back! I hope yet another eaglet is produced and raised. :)

Awesome ! How close were you ? Those birds are majestic !

Thank you. Honestly, I didn't estimate range. I try to zoom in with my 75-300 lens as best possible, and start taking photos. If I'm steady, and use a fast shutter speed, I can enlarge the photo a bit on the computer without losing too much detail. I'd guess under 100 yards on both photos.

Eagles are pretty easy to photograph. They're not usually skittish - I don't think I scare them at all. They sit still for extended periods, only moving their heads. While flying, they often soar, locking their wings into position. By and large, I think they make great photo subjects.

Little birds, like chickadee and goldfinch? Good grief - they barely pause!
