Gents...In desperate need of 6.5 140gr hunting VLD's. I know they are hard to come by but if you can give up any info in a PM as to the best bet it would be appreciated. I have them back ordered at a couple places, but they are telling me at least July.

If anyone has any they would want to part with, trade for something. I have a Krieger barrel for sale on the parts classifieds. Or maybe there's something g at our local shops you can't find where you are.

Thanks!

considered scenars? Ive had good luck with them on deer and one black bear , last I looked midway had them in stock

You can buy the 140 Berger match hybrid at third generation shooters supply

Thanks for all the reply's. Friendly place.

BCID, I have looked at the lapua's and may have to go that route but trying to stick to a hunting bullet for now. I was really hoping this would shoot Bergers, but I will let the gun decide that.

TH and Sugarbear, it looks like the only thing they have in stock is the hybrids, not the standard hunting VLD's. I do not have any experience with the hybrids. Do either of you or anyone else have substantial experience with this bullet and hunting?? Would be used for varmints...wolves, coyotes, and about anything else that eats what I want to. Would also use it for elk and deer some, I like to head shoot normally but sometimes it's not feasible. How would the hybrid perform behind the shoulder??

Good news, hope that holds up.

I have them backordered at 3 places, 2 of them have no idea when they will be getting any, Midway told me yesterday that they are scheduled for an order on June 23rd, then again in July. Then they added "if we get them"... that doesn't sound too promising.

When you need Berger Bullets, you should just call them. You can't get any closer to the source:D.

Hybrids will work fine if you are using them for coyotes and varmints in general. The thing with berger hybrids is that they are made with a thicker jacket than the vld hunting bullet. This means they don't open as easily on big game. If you are driving them fast - no problem, but at longish distances there have been some reports of 'penciling' through. This LRH group is pretty resourceful and you can find threads about of to anneal the tips of hybrids so that they will open up better at distance. But for you intended use on varmints. I would use the hybrid and not look back.

Can't speak for 140 hybrids yet. But the 180 hybrids have performed just as well as 180 vld hunting bullets on deer and elk. The thicker jacket doesn't start till the bearing surface. So from the bearing surface forward the jacket is the same as the vld hunting bullet. I'd get some hybrids and see how they work for you. I'll be trying them on deer next year in my 6.5 saum.

I've got several of the 130gr VLD's. I could probably part with a few. I could not find many of the 140's either so I tried them. My gun(6.5x284 with Bartlein 8.5 twist) shoots them better than the 140's. Let me know.

Thanks for the info an the offers, I think I have it dealt with for now. Hopefully someday I can return the favors for another member.

I can't wait to start burning some powder through this thing.
