Crimson Trace 1911 Grip Laser Issue

My Crimson Trace (CT) laser grip quit working for the second time. First time new batteries fixed it. Now, new batteries do not help. CT tells me do not use Duracell as they have a coating that causes an issue. New batteries are not Duracell. Grip was manufactured in 2013. Only warranty option is half price for a replacement.

I was never a fan of taking the grip off to replace batteries. Have to re-sight. Gun is a Colt Gold Cup Trophy 1911 stainless.

What are your suggestions moving forward?
