Chrome-moly vs. Stainless

Rather than getting in to a debate I will go with one of my favorite
barrel makers on the difference between Stainless and chrome-moly.

And by the way kreger does make M14 , M1's and M16 barrels and they
are considered some of the most accurate in these rifles.

stainless steel is stronger, has a longer barrel life, corrosive resistant. It may have a better
Stainless is not stronger, in fact just the opposite, CM steel is the gold standard. Race cars build their roll cage from it, NOT stainless steel. It's lighter only because you can use a thinner wall on the tubing. The difference in the weight of an action is probably only a gram or 3. Stainless is better if you don't want to coat or tear the metal. Most match grade barrels are 416 stainless, however.

Stainless does not rust as easy & does not need to blued or coated as C-M. SS also machines better. The chromium in SS forms a passive protective layer, chrome oxide, preventing additional corrosion. I can get most steel to rust in warm saltwater environments, like fishing gear.

I hope that after 14+ years, the OP (last seen Apr 30, 2015) has decided on the action and barrel choice. As always, IMHO, Jerry (RIP brother) provided the best response in #15.
