Looking at doing a build for my cousin, he wants a long range cannon. But he wants something lite for back country hunts where losing the extra weight pays off. Thinking a Proof research sendero contour barrel in a 1 and 9 twist 26" long. This will be going on a Rem 700 ultra mag action. Anybody have past experience or results with a similar build? Maybe someone can point me in the direction of a decent stock? I'm thinking a tactical/mountain stock that is a BDL. Hoping to push 210vld or 215 hybrids out of this riggin. Thanks for any feed back. gun)gun)gun)

I've seen my fair share of this exact set up on factory 700's and custom actions. They work really, really well. As far as the stock goes the manners T, EH1, McMillan A3, HTG, Rem hunter all work very well as you'll need a stock with a slightly larger forend to handle the heavy "sendero" contour which is actually more like an AMU with muzzle dia of .920". The 9 twist will work awesome and in a 300 ultra I wouldn't waste my powder shooting the 210 berger's, buy the 230 hybrids and never look back. The 215's are perfect match for the 300 win mag, but the 230 will make the 300 rum an absolute animal!

This ^^^^ I'd also give serious consideration to an APA brake on such a light build.
