gun) New member from South Dakota we shoot at long ranges out here in the prairie and would like to get started with a question. Does anyone know how far the 6.5x284 can this cartridge shoot to actually kill a deer? has anyone shot passed the 1000 yard mark and killed a deer?

Using 1000 pounds of energy as your target it puts the limit at 800 yards using the 140 Amax at 2850 fps. If you are comfortable with less energy the distance will extend. This load carries 715 pounds at 1000 yards.
