I have been seeing a lot of bears in the area I will be hunting its just that all I see are sow's with cubs..............do the females keep clear of the males? Do their ranges over lap or do they keep clear of each other. If I hunt in areas where I have seen a lot of females will I have a chance of seeing a Male.................

I don't know a lot about black bear. But brown bear boars will kill cubs. It's very common . But since black bears are dedicated and opportunistic predators. They will kill and eat anything they can or want to .

Their territories do overlap. There should be couple males in the same area. They do however steer clear of each other.

Chances are the males in the area are nocturnal. As they get older, they tend to move within the last hour of daylight and after dark. Hence the reason you are seeing the sows with cubs in the daytime, while the males are sleeping in the deep woods.

If your not already, focus your hunting time in the evenings. That will give you the best chance of seeing a big male.

Are you spot and stalk, ambush or stand hunting?
