bat house

Sorry I can't help with your question but I know our little brown bat population has all but disappeared here in western Pa. We have abundant roosting in the form of caves nearby but white nose syndrome has depleted the population.10 years ago I would see hundreds of them at dusk coming out to feed on flying insects and now I may see 10.
Hopefully you'll help make a difference in your area with the bat house's.

I had one spending day in my entry can light fixture last year.Would fly out in morning when I get paper.Or sometimes in evening. My wife didnt like it so close. So I left light on, but it still flew up and made it in small crack between bulb and housing,In a sloped 6'' can.Did show up this year, yet...

any one out there building bat houses that work
i have some property in ny st and french creek runs right through the middle of it
One scout in my troop built bat houses as his Eagle project. It was straightforward: a plank of wood spaced with enough room for the bats to squeeze in and out safely and efficiently. YouTube has numerous examples to model from. Good luck, and thank you for taking care of them.

Not his fancy, but a similar concept.

We have several Bat Houses on our property. One can hold up to 250 Bats. When it gets dark you see them dropping out of the bottom a dozen at a time. Looks like the Star War movie with ships dropping out of the Killer Star Ship!.
Each Bat eats hundreds of mesquites and bugs.
Then are GREAT friends on your property.
We have some Bat House information on building. Will have to dig up and post!

Now that's timing...I saw my first Bat and only Bat two days ago while sitting on the front deck with my wife. We were just discussing where all the Bats have gone. Didn't come up with an answer. We used to have more as well. And I have lots of places for them to "Hang Out"!

yea there just gone i havent seen one in a long time
len i sure could use some bat house info if you find it thank you

I have never built one, but I have plans from a book on building nesting boxes for dozens of species that is at least 30 years old.
