Seems to me that Bartlein and Hawk Hill use the same taper. More of a continuous taper than say a Remington sporter that has a long section of the barrel that tapers little. Could be wrong.

FWIW. I do not mind weight in a hunting rifle if it balances reasonably well. An ultralight stock and heavier contour barrel bother me. I do not shoot much with An attached bipod. I think that those using bipods or shooting a lot prone enjoy the weight forward balance.
