Ok guys, I'm thinking about getting a new stock. I like the B&C with the vertical grip. I would like to get the varmint stock but use it on my factory sporter barrel for awhile until I rebarrel. How would this look?

Who cares?

Bed the rifle into the new stock and see how it shoots. I'd be more concerned with the bedding and fit than whether or not the barrel looks a bit thin in the stock.

Just do it! :D

Exactly...do what works best for you. And who knows, maybe someday you'll want a custom barrel with a heavier profile.

That's exactly my plans. I want to rebarrel this gun with a heavier barrel, but I need a stock right now.

I am by no means an expert but I believe you can bed the barrel channel. I would just make sure you use tape around the bottom and sides of the barrel to free float it properly.
