I have a DDM4V7 (16" bbl) with a 1 in 7" twist and want to handload for coyotes out to 300 yards max. Need recommendations for a 70-77 grain pill that will expand & won't just poke an entrance/exit hole. I have Varget, RL-15, & N540 to launch it thru the bore.

I was in the same boat about reloading for my 18",AR, 1-7" Wylde. In the meantime, I bought some Hornady #8327 rounds for something to shoot. They shot so good (1/2"-1/4" groups) that I dropped the reloading idea for the AR. Found a deal and bought a 500 round case for under $200. (It's hard to find at the moment.)

Will I ever reload for my AR? Maybe, but 500 rounds will last me my lifetime. If I do it's because I got bored and needed something to do.

ELD-M would be my go to at that range with a .223. I run VMAX on hogs and yotes but my shooting is almost all less than 100 yards, most of the time much less, and the bleed out is impressive.

69smk in my bolt gun and 75 HPBT(hornady) in my gas gun both anchor yotes at that range. Mid shoulder and they crumble.

Does the 69 gr Sierra Match king blow up inside the vitals if I don't hit the shoulder ? (say I hit behind the shoulder, thru the lungs)

I shoot the 65gr gameking. I use that bullet on deer coyotes and pigs. I am getting a tikka 22 250 1@8. I am going to try some 70gr Berger VLD bullets.

Just got through shooting my 22-250...all 5 groups average .2006", at 100 yards.
22" barrel, 5R rifling, 1-12" twist.
60g Berger #22312, with RL10x-32.0g.
I've got a 204 Ruger, 22",5R,1-10".
9 groups averaging .1858" @ 100 yards.
35g Berger #20303, with RL10x-25.0g.
I've got a 243, 22",5R, 1-10.
#2 load:
Only 2 groups so far, averaging .1588".
87g Berger #24524, with H4350-38.0g.
See the common denominator...first is Berger bullets, SECOND is RL10x powder. (I've got some Hornady underwear for sale. Need to buy Berger!)

(#1 243 load:
Factory Hornady 87g SST Custom Lite #80466.
3 groups averaging .1796".)

Next up is finding a Berger load for my .223 barrel. Right now it's shooting factory Hornady #8327, avaraging .3639" on 7 groups.
(Probably should start with the 60 grain Bergers, with some RL10x powder...hmm.)

If you're doing 300 yds. max I'd take a serious look at the 60 TMK. Great BC for it's weight and I got a 3-shot gp. at 300 yds. (once) <1". Took a coyote last year at 475 head shot. Also love the 69 TMK as well. Lots of options with a 7T though.

^that.
300 yards ? 50-60gr vmax. 53s have a decent b c.

If not I would look at the 77tmk.

Think you would be better off with the lighter stuff tho.

Thank You All for the replies ! Got my dies, bullets & brass, time to start handloading. Gonna start with the Sierra 69 gr MK over Varget with a CCI 450 primer in Lapua brass.
