I think it was made by answer products in Michigan. On the one I had they didn't take the burs out of the center so a bullet would not drop through.
Came in on a consignment gun

No problem, but you can't sell it to a prospective buyer with good conscience.
bullet drops through fine, my conscience will be fine as well, buyer can replace with whatever they prefer

Nothing substandard, just not what you prefer ( me either) but I'll bet it reduces recoil quite a bit- just not up to the modern blow-gas-in- your- face brakes that are the rage now

A good friend had one of these and I agree it's a Answer brake they also sold a Very nice recoil pad that was an option to go with the brake , the Company was Very well respected, and produced very fine products .

This is an Answer brake. They have been out of business for some time. I have an Answer brake with decelerator pad on a 7 STW on a light weight Rem 700, put on back in the 90s. It tamed the STW to about a 25-06 recoil. The muzzle brake looks like the one shown here in question. Mine is stainless. A very nice fit on the brake. The decelerator pad started leaking black goo out after about 15 years. I had to cover the goo with a Pachmayr butt stock cover. It was very loud and blew dust if you were shooting close to the ground. But it sure cut down the kick of the STW.
