adding testured grips to stock

I saw on here somewhere, that a guy had added textured grips to his rifle stock. I am very interested in doing this. Can anyone help me out?

Not sure what you saw, but this is pretty common, simple, and cheap.

Every local auto parts store will have the adhesive backed friction material and it comes in colors too.

It has automotive type contact adhesive on it so I'd test the stock in an obscure place first to be sure it (adhesive) won't mar the finish.
