Looking for input on what powder is best to use when 8208xbr is not available.
Currently using 8208 in 17 Rem and 204 R.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried Varget in these cartridges with ok results.
The 8208 is just so easy to find a good load with.
I have located 8 lbs of 8208, and will be picking it up today.

I use both H322 and H4895 in the three 204's that I shoot.

I killed a lot of coyotes with the 17 Rem with 22.5-23.5g of H322 and Berger 25g match hp, rem 7 1/2 primer. The velocity is not as fast as the 24g of IMR 4320 but dead is dead, place your shot or don't pull the trigger.

H335 will give the very longest barrel life, hard to believe just how much more. We shot the heck out of p. dogs with the 17.

Educate yourself by searching for the Heat Index chart, not a Burning rate chart...get ready for a shock!

With the load listed with H322, the shot strings were longer before the bullets started key holing or not hitting the target at all. We had factory and customs.

Neck Turning does away with a LOT of problems that the 17 Rem has, I can not emphasize this enough.

I shot out a couple 17 barrels with IMR 4320 on p dogs in the 80's that's what I got the best accuracy and speed with.
