Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

You might also look at RL-26. I have a 25 inch barrel and am getting 2900 FPS w/ the 180's. Good luck. Bruce

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

Really want to stick to a temp stable powder. I live in south Texas and can still be 100 degrees when deer season starts and then might be hunting in Colorado at 30....I've used 25 before in a 7RUM and had a bad experience. Might just get the rifle throated for the 180's. Looks like a lot of guys are able to push them over at or over 2900 pretty easy. Again...although it would be cool to shoot the 195's...dead is dead and the 180 will definitely get it done.....very effeciently I think if I throat for 180 I could still load the 195 to try it out but if I went vise versa and throated for 195, I might not be able to get to the lands (if needed) with enough bullet in the neck....I don't know...I go back and forth.....but it's fun to think about!

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

set it up for the 180s I had good luck between .010-.030 off. develop a good load and twist turrets when needed. if you throat for 195s you will only have about .220 in neck with 180s

Right on.

The 180's are no slouch, very impressive results all the way around. I also intend to try the Hornady 180 ELD M's soon . If the B.C. is close to what they advertise it'll be an awesome combination.

There is more difference in the bearing surface length between a 180 gr Berger and a 180 gr Hornady than there is between a 180 gr Berger and a 195 gr Berger.

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

.....what about the 175 Elite Hunter? The Litz G7 BC on it is .336 (Litz G7 BC of 180 .337). With they hybrid design of the bullet, might be easier to tune and could probably push it a little faster. If you look at them side by side, if you could push the 180 2900 and the 175 3000, the 175 beats the 180 in drop, drift and energy. Combine that with the ability of the bullet design making it easier to tune for seating depth....how can you beat it? Even if the MV's above are conservative or too high, it really doesn't matter. If you were able to shoot the 175 Elite any amount faster, it would out run the 180. If you throated for 180, I bet you would still be fine with the 175....but then again, when you look at the 175....why wouldent you just shoot it period? Anybody have any experience with them? They almost look like the perfect Berger for the saum.

That's the awesomeness that is handloading, try any combination you like and you'll probably find several winners.

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

So....I have to make a decision so I can get my chamber throated....The question of the day:

If I disregard throating for the 195 due to the limitations it would create in using other bullets and I was looking at just the 180 VLD H and the 175 Elite, would you you throat for the 175 or the 180 to be able to use both?? :) My wife is going to kick my *** if I don't make a decision I can live with as I've been doing nothing but talking to her (not that she understands one bit of it!) and myself all weekend!! I'm spent!

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

I would think that the seating depth difference between a 175 and 180 would be minimal. Mine is throated for 180's and shoots everything from 162's to 180's very well.

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

If 175 and 180 gr Bergers are all you want to consider, order your reamer with .140" freebore.

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

make a dummy round with the 180 VLD H 2.987 inches that's bearing surface at base of neck and touching lands. roughly .164 free bore that will work for both

I like this.

So you are talking about using 180 VLDH dummy for throating and seating bullet where boat tail/bearing surface junction is AT neck/shoulder junction correct? To reach the lands with the 175 it would need to be seated out longer because of the shorter base to ogive, correct? But would still have enough in the neck...like middle of boat tail at neck/shoulder junction approximately?

Edd, I will not be ordering a reamer. GA Precision is building this gun. They were going to use throating reamer based on dummy round I send in.

Re: Anybody shooting 195 EOL in 7SAUM w/ H-1000?

that is 180 hunting VLD bearing surface at neck/shoulder junction and touching lands. so if you use .010 jump your .010 below neck .030 jump .030 below neck and so on. if you want lengthen dummy to adjust for jump or leave it for throat wear. bearing surface on 175 EH is .013 shorter than 180 wont have any problems. all berger bullet dimensions are on their home page at bottom click quick reference data.
