I am considering purchasing a 7mmSAUM using Remington 700 action with a 24inch 8 1/2 to one twist ratio Montana barrel company barrel. I am interested in input on best bullets and powder for starters. I currently use Retumbo for my 7mm Exact wildcat I built several years ago with the same platform. Always shoots 1/2 MOA. I want to scale down to the 7mm SAUM for this build.

Tons of options with 7 Saum. H1000 with 168s or 180s, rl26 with both, or 23. With 168 and under things like 4831sc or h4350, rl16 will work well. Only issue with the cartridge as I see it is brass availability, with ADG being the best available and Lapua not making any, when it does become available it's gone faster then you could imagine

Hybrid 100V with 160 Gameking HPBT did wonders for mine. Fast and super accurate in factory 22" Rem 7.
Tried other powders and bullets but this combo worked great.

I bought 6.5 saum brass. Run through 25 saum dies and trim. Waiting for my action to build a 25 saum.

My 7 Sherman Max using adg saum(slightly more powder capacity) runs 180 Berger @ 3030 fps with RL-23. Haven't tried 160's.

I've gotten the 175 elites up to 2975 with a 24" barrel with rl23 fairly easily in a standard 7 Saum

I have 5 of the 7 SAUM's. 4 Long actions 1 short action. The LA's shoot 180 Hybrids except one that shoots 175 Elites. The SA shoots 143 AH's. Powders that all work are RL26, RL23, H560, H565. H560 and RL26 are my goto's. 180's shoot @ the 2950-2980 node and the 175's shoot around the 3,010 node. The 143 AH's shoot around the 3,300 mark. Hope it helps ya.

Have 2 7saums and I have great results hunting and grouping with the 168 Berger VLDs. No load data for you. I'm using Gunwerks ammo

I have a 7 saum with a 20" proof barrel. My two loads are as follows and both are safe in MY rifle so work up in yours
1) 143 Hammer Hunter, Adg, fed 215m, 58.9 h4350 running at 3030
2) 168 Berger VLD, Adg, fed 215m, 65.5 h1000 (this is a slightly compressed load but is the GW factory load for the 168 or so I am told. Shoots just like the factory ammo does. I get 2865 from my short barrel.

I have a 7 saum with a tikka action and 26 inch proof barrel. I run a few loads on the short action and ended up with 162 eldx and H1000. Was getting 2980 fos and just under .5 MOA. Decided to play a little more with a heavier load to seat the bullets longer and swapped out the bolt stop to go longer on my action. Ended up with a 175 ABLR with RL 26 at 3056 fps and the MOA is right at .5 MOA. Also the H1000 is just over 3000 fps. Every happy with my results.

R23 has been the best powder for that size case and 160 to heavy bullets. I would start there. Then H4831, H1000, R26, and any other powders between those burn rates of the above listed should work.
