[Hard Head]

Went out with a dirty barrel last Saturday in my Bergara wilderness in 7mm prc to see if fouling shots worked , did not clean after last session last week sooooo,It was the same almost perfect target for target, after 7 rounds they were in small .375-.410 3 shot groups, now..............My 3 shot groups were 4 groups stacked on top of each other shot 1 after the other moving on to net 3 shot session all in 90 seconds,so that tells me my barrel likes to be warmed up but not hot to the touch. The next thing I noticed was the first 6 shots down a dirty barrel were 22fps faster than the next my last 13 rounds that had a sd of 3.45 and 2892 vs 2913 and 5.6 Pete

Keep it up, you'll start cleaning less and less. I only do when I've got an issue or pulling a barrel for storage. And 22fps is likely just your es range. You'll start realizing it's never truely sub 10 over large sample sizes.

I gust wish that maybe after 200 rounds it will shoot close to the same place from a clean, cold ,warm and dirty barrel . I have to wander that it being a Factory barrel, maybe it will need a break in period, we will see. Other than that the only thing I wanted to do was get a lighter stock, checked out all and they were going to run about 1200.00 when finished ,would be about 2 #'s less but had to buy new bottom metal plus magazine. Not worth spending that much money to lose 2 #'s, the Wilderness HMR stock is great just heavy. Pete

I've never shot a bergara, but imo the first upgrade should always be a quality trigger, then a stock! But both are worth their weight forsure! I'll say I do think too much weight is put into groups on paper at short distances, and you'll find your hit probabilities at distance are still very good with a rifle shooting 1 moa vs 1/2 moa. Shoot some steel at distance and your confidence will grow!

My only complaint is it's 14.6#,th a lot of weight. I have all the confidence in the world for shooting at 2000 yards and beyond, when yo do that by the time your barrel has warmed up your dialed in. What I hate is benching with a pristine or DIRTY barrel your groups do not get into the sub 1/2 " or smaller . I have only had one rifle that put the first shot out of a cold clean barrel 3" dead on but above the bull most were about 1" off left or right of vertical cross hair. Just picked up 10 boxes of 180 ELD Match so with what I have with more of the same ,along with Powder and primers I'm good till the barrel is shot out by throat erosion. Then I will spend the money on a lite carbon fiber stock, barrel and put it on my Bergara, as it wears a Trigger tech Diamond set at 12 oz that breaks like glass and the Area 419 4 slot Hellfire so it is as tame as a 22/250. My only thing to do is take her out to a 1000 and see what happens there with a cold clean barrel, then come back the next day with the same set up and use the cross hairs windage wise with out making turret adjustments , Pete
