have winchester 760 ball powder need to shoot it up will it work in a load for 22-250 or 25-06 any one using this stuff?

FWIW--I had a very fussy browning a-bolt sporter. A friend loaded me some 55 sierra bts over 38.0 of 760--the result was a 10 shot group where I could cover 9 with a nickel--I called the one outside. It went from fussy to phenominal with that load.

I have never used W760 in a standard 22-250Remington? But a lot of people claim that it is the same powder as H414, which is what I use in my 22-250 Ackley. I certainly do not claim that it is interchangable, but they show similiar. I think it would perform better with 60 grain bullets?

However, I have used W760 in my 25'06Ackley, and believe it is suitable, if not perfect. About the same as H4831, The only knock I hear is that it is not temperature stable, if that is important to you? What's perfect? Might not be perfect, in every case, from an accuracy standpoint, but R-22 yields higher velocities in 25'06, assuming 100/120 grain bullets.

Good hunting. LB

I have used Win 760 in my CZ550 Varmint in 22-250. My best load is:

50gr Hornady Molly V-Max
41gr Winchester 760
Winchester Cases
Fed210M Primers
O.A.L 2.40

I can cover 5 shots with a nickel. If it means anything I have not been able to get anything else to work near as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
