7 prc 1-8.4 twist.

So I'm getting a rifle done in 7 prc with a 24" proof sendero light that's a 1-8.4 twist
My goal is to shoot 175 elite hunters or possibly 180 vldh . I've had a few people tell me I need a 1-8 twist but in my experience with those bullets that 8.4 twist should be more than adequate. Any thoughts on this ?

Berger recommends a min of 1:10" for the 175 and 1:9" for the 180; I think you are GTG with your barrel twist rate choice.

I got mine back this week. It seems to shoot the 180 eldm really good. The 175 eldx ammo was not as good. It seems slow though. 2880 with the 180 and 2830 with the 175. I think I'm just going to pull the bullets on the other 6 boxes I have because the stuff I loaded last night the primer pockets are pretty loose.

I experienced the slower than advertised speeds also. 180 eldm = 2824 and 175 eldx = 2920. These where factory rounds will probably consider pushing them a little more when I go to reloading.

Maybe they are not Loose !! This is the first time I've ever loaded Hornady brass and I said I never would but I wanted a 7prc so I'm stuck with it till I can get my hands on some ADG.
They just don't have the resistance I'm used to after first firing when priming . But judging by my speed I think the barrel might be a little bit on the tighter side .
I will load the Bergers up and go test them they probably should have less bearing surface so hopefully that will help.

I figured I'd be good but thought I'd quiz the guys here since every PRC you see has a 8 twist.

It really likes RL26.
Going to try 66.8 just so I can be over
2900 fps. I will be happier if I'm over 2900 haha. It's definitely not a fast barrel.

I confirmed load today at 100 yards and then shot this 3 shot group at 409 yards
