I've had good luck (accuracy wise) with both the 168g and 180g VLD out of my factory BDL Rem 700 7mm RM.
168g VLD, 64g RL-22, Win Case, Fed 215, 2950fps, 1/2- 3/4 MOA to 800 yards.
180g VLD, 61g RL-22, Win Case, Fed 215, 2825fps, 1/2- 3/4 MOA to 800 yards.
Work ok on deer size animals, but I think I"m gonna go back to 140g NBT's for deer. I've had them (Bergers) act like FMJ"s at close range, and then act like bombs at Long range. A friend has also used the 308" 210g VLD out of a SLOW 30-06 and is getting very big holes in things at close range. Kinda inconsistent for the terminal side of ballistics, IMO. NBT's flat out knock the crap out of deer both close and far. Out to 800 yards the 140's will do just as good...
