Looking to shoot 105 bergers. Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge and bullet and have a freebore length they would recommend?

My problem child - best accuracy so far is with 87 H Vmax & 52 gr. PP4000, 105 Barnes MB & 51 RL23 and & 105 Barnes MB & 57 R-S Magnum, 8 twist - #4 barrel heats fast win R-S Magnum & 105 BMB's at just under 3225. 87's are just over 3,500. Not for volume shooting! 105's just touch rifling, 87's set back .010. First 3 shots at 300 within 1" of point of aim, after that....Going to try more bulky extruded powders. I make ammo using 6.5-06 as body die with expander ball/primer pin removed & neck die using .243 F/L die, honed out for .268 necks & set way back and secured with lock ring. Best 100 yard group .5 using RL23. I think I would get better accuracy if I backed off a bit with the R-S Magnum load. Fun to shoot, fast but frustrating.

The -06 parent case has a long neck, so I'd think 100-120k freebore would work for about any 6mm bullet from 90-115gr.

Thank you, that's good to hear. Manson had a standard print with .100 freebore. Can anyone confirm this freebore should work?

.100 is about perfect for the 105 HVLD's and the 108 EH's, the boat tail junction of the bullet on both are about .050 above the shoulder neck junction of the brass (up in the neck)). Those are the only two bullets I have measured.

1.5° lead angle will add 40-50k to touch with their hybrid ogive with a freebore thats 001 larger than bullet OD. Keep that in mind. Bullets generally shoot best 15-50k off lands. I think 0.100fb will work great with everything vld/hybrid.
