6.5 PRC Hornady brass wont size correctly. Dent on shoulder. Confused.....

I have a ton of once-fired hornady 6.5 PRC brass. The problem im having is sizing. Im using a Redding precision sizing die. I have tried sizing high, low, in between and every way i can think of but the brass still either wont chamber or is extra tight when chambering (hard to close bolt). If i keep turning my die down (even after it has contacted the shell holder) it will eventually chamber but then i get a large dent on the shoulder. So there's NO WAY thats good for accuracy. Can anyone help here? Anyone seen this or fixed it?

If it wasn't fired out of your chamber I would trim it first.

I have that problem sometimes when converting 6GT to 7VAR, and believe it or not sometimes its because of too much lube.

You need to show the dent. You have to turn die until it bumps shoulder enough to chamber. So we need to see dent. You may be using to much lube that is causing the dents.

Honestly i DO use alot of lube and was wondering about that. Ive been trimming them all too (for the most part). I think to 2.014" finish length i believe.

Did you measure the brass with a headspace gauge? Also was all the brass fired in your rifle? Might need to shave the shell holder, the dent is probably from excess lube.

Im getting pictures to send of the brass right now. The brass was NOT fired in my rifle. I got it from a firearms manufacturer that uses them to test their rifles. I dont have a headspace gauge right now. I can get one though.

So should i try just a slight ring of lube around the upper edge of the shoulder. Ive been rolling the whole case body in lube on the lube mat.

Stop wasting your time, just go buy ADG, Peterson, or lapua. You will waste more time and energy on this junk brass than what it's worth.

Ive been wondering about that. A buddy of mine that shoots benchrest told me a while back the exact same thing. That basically Hornady is crap brass. But i have so much of it. This stinks.
