New to the whole long range target shooting game. Looking for little help I have just picked rifle from the gunsmith and starting to load for it I have tried H4350 a H4831Sc with Berger 140 VLD target and Hunting Bullets. I will be using the rifle to shot 200-1000 yards. What other powders has everyone had good results with? Thanks for help

Reloader 23 that's what I'm currently using with very good results

Rl17,retumbo,norma mrp and many others. You only have about a thousand shots to make up your mind. With powder availability I would pick a powder I had enough on hand to use up the barrel

Reloader 26 is another option, it is working very well in my rifle with 130gr Sierra TGK bullets.
You could search the forum for Greyfox as he has post a lot of info on the 6.5-284 over the years.

If you can find it, RL23 is some really good stuff, I'm shooting the same load as 338 Dude with a 143 X bullet at 2960fps in a Savage LRH. I also shoot the 140 Speer Gold Dot at 2980 with a half a grain less. I've tried all the regulars other than H1000 and Retumbo and they were ok but RL23 beat 'em all in velocity and accuracy.

I bounced around several powders last year with the 140 Berger Elite Hunter. RL26 had great velocity but could never get it to group consistently. RL23 was the clear winner. Consistent 1/2 MOA out to 1,000 yards. Field tested on an antelope at 900 and a bull elk at 600 last fall. Bullet and load worked perfectly. More field testing coming soon I hope.
