anyone using this or the 2000-mr? if so in what along with bullet and cartridge combo. ql doesn't list it with the rest of their brand, so i'm at nothing other than the few cartridges listed in their data. like a lot of other powder that works in/with other cartridges that's NOT in their data that reloaders use.

I really liked MR-4000 but sadly it is now extinct. Sort of like an extruded ball powder with a burn rate like IMR4831 & H4831 & R19.

4000-MR burn rate shown in Hodgdon burn rate chart is incorrect. For years I used 75 or so grains of 4000-MR in .300 WM with 178 HELDM bullets and also used it with .22-.250 loads with 75 grain bullets. 4000-MR was made by General Dynamics and for some reason they quit making it. I have pound of 4000- MR & a box of 174 grain .30 cal. H ELDVT bullets and will use up the 1 pound loading them.

god news for you then, bruno's has some in stock as the reason i'm asking questions

shows 11 1#ers in stock @ $53.99. i'd rather have more 7828ssc. i managed to get 2# at a place where i'm going friday, but i bought what was left. 11# of 4000-mr will only get me between 1,100 and 1,500 rounds. not bad if i were to only use it in 1 cartridge. i did find some imr4831 also, but it might've been only 1#. that's my go-to in 264wm w/140sbt sierra's since '84.

I too liked it, it was my go to powder in the 6.5saum with the 120/130 class bullets. Disappointed when I found out it was discontinued. I've got enough left for prolly one more barrel and if I was betting it's going to be in that N165/N560 area for a replacement.
